![]() However in retrospect stronger or more magnets would be better. Using 16 magnets of each plate gives the box sufficient hold for handling the box and to keep the contents in. I designed the base frame and the sides with holes for 5mm x 2mm magnets. The clearance around each piece is 2 mm so that it drop in nicely. All the pieces fit nicely inside the box when stored. ![]() In total there are 54 pieces, three on each plate. I designed all the pieces with different shapes and also used some letters. ![]() I think future side plates can also be designed like puzzles to make it more challenging. This way, more complicated side plates can be designed as children grow. I designed the box with interchangeable side plates so that it can be changed later if needed. I first googled around to get a feel for how “professional” sorting boxes were designed and found that I could make a mix of everything i found.
